Attention, Washingtonians: You’ve got a new young lady to represent you at January’s Miss America competition.
Kate Marie Grinold, a 23-year-old graduate of George Washington University and manager of the Rugby boutique in Georgetown, was named Miss DC 2008 at the Lincoln Theatre on Saturday night.

Grinold’s platform is improving D.C. public education. For the talent portion, she danced a classical ballet number from “Don Quixote.”
Meanwhile, Jasmine Alexis, a homeschooled Latin ballroom dancer, was named Miss Outstanding Teen D.C. 2008.
One of the guests of honor at the competition was none other than the current Miss America Outstanding Teen, Caitlin Brunnell. If the last name sounds familiar, it’s because she’s the daughter of former Redskins quarterback Mark Brunnell.
