Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of Jim Stewart, an Air Force sergeant who frequently worked on Air Force One. Stewart died last week from complications arising from a car crash after having just finished dinner with his wife and kids.
President Bush reached out to Stewart and his family, calling Stewart’s wife to express his sympathies and sending letters of condolences to Stewart’s parents, widow and children. In the days immediately following the accident, Bush even dispatched the White House doctor, Air Force Brig. Gen. Richard J. Tubb, to see if he could be of assistance during Stewart’s time of need.
