Robert Griffin III might lead the Redskins to the so-called promised land one day. And that would not surprise a pastor from his youth. According to an article by Yahoo! Sports, when Griffin was 10 years old, a pastor at his church placed his palm on Griffin’s head.

The article says the pastor told Griffin’s parents that “The hand of God is upon him. And God wants to shoot him as an arrow from his quiver. … He will do it through athletics.”
The article also says that Griffin’s mother shared the pastor’s vision.
“I knew he was going to revolutionize and change the world of sports,” Jacqueline Griffin told the website.
Griffin hasn’t exactly changed sports yet; that can only happen if he has tremendous success in the NFL. And how he’ll revolutionize it remains to be seen. He certainly has a flair to his game and has the charisma to match. He’s a marketer’s dream. But the hype machine also has reached a point where it needs to start cooling or at least take on a more reasoned tone. Expectations for him have officially shot through the roof. And then some.
There is little doubt that Griffin is an exciting player and a fantastic prospect. But the kid still has to prove he can play in the NFL. And don’t forget he’s coming to a team that has won a combined 11 games in two seasons and has plenty of questions. Quarterback wasn’t the only issue for Washington last season. It will take time. For Griffin’s sake, that should not be forgotten.
