Maryland released running back D.J. Adams from his scholarship, the sophomore confirmed Wednesday. After a freshman year in which he carried 67 times for 239 yards and 11 touchdowns, showing ability as a short-yardage weapon, Adams had a decreased role this year under new coach Randy Edsall. He rushed 40 times for 174 yards and four scores. Adams was suspended for the Terps’ opener against Miami and played intermittently afterward.
