Portis update

Running back Clinton Portis will visit a concussion specialst Monday and Tuesday in Pittsburgh, with hopes of being cleared to play in the Dec. 13 game at Oakland. However, coach Jim Zorn said today that Portis is still suffering from a little dizziness when he works out.

That can’t be a good sign when it comes to having him available for the Raiders game and maybe even beyond. Another question for Portis would be: why risk a return? He’ll miss his fourth game Sunday and still has symptoms of a concussion almost a month after the injury occurred.

But Zorn, who ruled him out of Sunday’s game vs. New Orleans two weeks in advance, is not about to do the same thing now.

“Because if they can clear him, that will be the test,” he said. “They’ll be the ones that ask him and as they work thorugh all the issues. If he comes back I can’t tell you he’ll play against the Raiders but if we can get him active and he feels better and if they completely clear him, and our doctors have completely cleared him, — to play, not just to begin activity — then we’ll go.”
