Interview with an unwilling Blue Devil

After Duke’s 56-41 victory at Virginia on Wednesday night, a reporter apologized for his off-topic question when asking Mike Krzyzewski what he thought of coaches being interviewed during games. But the Duke coach was anxious to answer. “Yeah, that stinks. That shouldn’t be,” Krzyzewski said. “Are you kidding me? It’s horrible, horrible. A coach’s responsibility, from the time you talk to them in the locker room before the game until the time you talk to them in the locker room after the game, is sacred for you and your team.” Many have noticed in recent years that Krzyzewski never participates in halftime walk-off interviews that many other coaches do.

He did have a suggestion, however: coaches interviewing referees.

“We’re trying all kinds of things on ESPN this week. We might as well try that,” Krzyzewski said. “Was that really traveling? Did you not see his feet the time before?”
