Redskins-Seahawks report card

Impact player Running back Roy Helu was fantastic, providing a spark. He consistently gained an extra yard or two. Helu made defenders miss, more so than in his previous games. He finished with 162 all-purpose yards, including 108 on the ground.

Under the radar

Quarterback Rex Grossman showed he can put aside mistakes. He made a bad throw and also a bad decision on his interceptions. But he stayed poised and finished with 314 passing yards and two touchdowns.

Did you notice …

Guard Chris Chester on the game-winning touchdown? Chris Clemons looped from right end to the left side. But Chester, who blocked down, spotted him and pushed him aside. That created a huge lane for Grossman to step up and unload a 50-yard touchdown pass.

From the sidelines

Pete Carroll’s team did not handle the Redskins’ struggling running game; the Seahawks were fooled a lot, especially early. They wasted a timeout in the second half when only nine men were on the field for a field goal attempt.

Offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan deserves credit for a good game plan. He caught the Seahawks wanting to stuff the run and hit them with play-action and misdirection plays early. The offense got into a rhythm.
